Circus Acts

In 1768 the very first Circus opened in England on January 9th put on by the flamboyant Cavalry Officer Philip Astley. Attributed as being the 'father of the Modern Circus'.

Circuses date back to Ancient Rome where 'The Circus' was the arena or building where horses were exhibited, chariot races took place, staged gladiatorial battles ensued along with an area where wild animals were trained for "The Circus".
