This is a great 'Summer' Cocktail that certainly has a kick.
It is unashamedly unassuming; the ginger beer tingles the taste buds, the lime squeezed adds a zip and sparkle with the the silent Vodka adding that final delicious punch.
The lazy, crazy days of kicking back, sipping a not too sweet, not too heavy Cocktail are here. The Moscow Mule is a simple but incredibly gorgeous (and more-ish) Cocktail.
- 2 shot Vodka
- 1/4 Shot Freshly squeezed lime juice
- Top-up Quality Ginger Beer
- Optional Dash Angostura Bitters
- Add all the ingredients into the Cocktail shaker over ice except the Ginger Beer

- Top-up with Ginger Beer
There are a few stories floating around as to whom created the Moscow Mule. Mixologists tend to cite Wes Price - a bartender at the Cock 'n' Bull's Head, an English pub located in the heart of Hollywood, California as the inventor. However there are always two sides to a story.
Legend has it, in 1939 John Martin acquired the rights to sell Smirnoff Vodka for the food and drink distributor Heublein in Connecticut. By sheer co-incidence, the owner of a British themed pub called The Cock 'n' Bulls Head located in Hollywood, Jack Morgan wanted to sell, get off the ground and promote his new Ginger Beer product. The two men met at City Chatham's Bar in down-town New York. After several drinks they hit upon the idea (we are not sure who actually came up with the idea) but at the end of their session, they had added their two ingredients (Smirnoff Vodka and Ginger Beer) plus a dash of lime juice to create a simple but effective Cocktail. The elegant Moscow Mule was born.
